Frederik Rasmussen converts pole into victory as F1 Sim Racing World Championship returns at Silverstone

Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing driver Frederik Rasmussen claimed his first victory of the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship during Tuesday’s fifth round action at a virtual Silverstone.

Rasmussen, the reigning F1 Sim Racing champion, was without a win from the opening events around the Australian, Chinese, Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix venues – which saw four different drivers triumph.

However, the Dane stated his intentions at the home of the British Grand Prix, first by charging his way to pole position over Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team racer Daniel Bereznay and McLaren Shadow’s Lucas Blakeley.

Rasmussen opted for medium tyres at the start, rather than the softs chosen by Bereznay and Blakeley, which initially looked to backfire when he lost out to both of them on the opening lap and dropped to P4 shortly afterward.

Rasmussen’s strategy would pay off in the end, though, as he enjoyed the softer rubber for his final stint and picked off the cars ahead – his decisive move for the lead on the other Mercedes of Jake Benham coming on Lap 23 of 26.

Mercedes swapped their two cars around in the closing laps to give Bereznay a shot at catching Rasmussen, as his medium tyres came back into play, but it was not quite enough to trigger another change in positions.

Rasmussen and Bereznay crossed the line nose-to-tail, with Benham completing the podium finishers over Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports Team’s Nicolas Longuet, the aforementioned Blakeley and KICK F1 Sim Racing Team’s Thomas Ronhaar.

Attention now turns to rounds six and seven of the championship, which will take place at the Belgian and Dutch Grand Prix tracks throughout Wednesday and can be followed live on F1.com.
